Using Automated Workflows you can easily keep competitor comparisons up to date, with minimal time.

To get started, create Boards for your comparison.

This can most easily be done directly from the Boards & Traits section in your settings.

We recommend creating:

  • 1 board per vertical, and use traits to compare products

  • 1 board per product, and use traits to for features

We also recommend taking these additional steps for optimal segmentation:

  • Use common terminology if your competitors use different product names

  • Ensure you label product pages/ release pages with this common terminology in the webpage tracking section for each company

Your Kompyte CSM is available to support you with each above step.

Next, customize the Automated Workflows for the best results.

When Kompyte detects a change, the content of that change will trigger where it is sent. For the best results, consider following the best practices for Scenario 1 or 2.

Scenario 1 - Every company in my landscape uses the same product terminology, or very similar.

In this scenario, you can most accurately segment intel to each section of your comparison.

  • Create 1 automated workflow for each board. Define the insights you want to segment, and add a step to pin the intel to the corresponding product trait.

  • Use if than branches to segment 1) products within verticals or 2) features within products.

  • Tip: Refine which insights are included in your workflow, start your workflow with a Collect > Saved filter (i.e. Website tracking)

Scenario 2 - Product terminology differs across the landscape

In this scenario, we recommend segmenting updates to a Board "Overview" trait, reviewing the insight, and then adding it to the correct comparison section.

  • Choose common terminology for your Boards/Traits. For example “Design Features”.

  • Include an "Overview" trait on your Board. For example “Design Features Overview”.

  • Create an automated workflow that pins all defined intel related to the product keywords to the "Overview" trait.

  • When intel is pinned to the "Overview" trait, review and decide how to disperse the insights across the Board.

If terminology differs, here are a few additional tips

  • Review your competitor webpage labels and check that the product pages are labeled with the common terminology you've chosen.

  • Add additional common keywords to the automated workflows

  • Continue to refine the workflow by reviewing the collect feed regularly and manually pinning intel. Then refine labels/keywords.
