How to Use Automation Workflows & Video Overview

A beginners guide to Kompyte Automation and a selection of use cases

Automation Workflows simplify tasks and can be leveraged to curate insights, helping you to stay up to date on the competitor movements that matter to you.

Workflows are a series of automated actions triggered by new insights collected by Kompyte or user behavior.
​
Automation can also be used to help internal communication as well as align product marketing, CI, and sales teams.

How to get started with Automation workflows

Start from your Automation Hub. Here you can see your Workflow Dashboard and Workflow List. Your list will include active Workflows that you’ve launched and inactive ones you paused or that you are in the process of finalizing.

An effective tip is to group related workflows by selecting the checkbox located on the left side of each workflow's name.

A Manage group(s) button will appear in the top right corner.

Select the appropriate group or create a new group and click Apply.

Once you have several Workflows, use the filter and sorting tools to quickly locate them by type, creation date, last updated date, and also to quickly identify the total number of insights enrolled in a particular workflow.

Also be sure to toggle between Group or List view and use the filter and sort options.

Creating an Automation Workflow in Kompyte

Step 1: From your Automation Dashboard, select Create Workflow on the right-hand side:

By doing this, a wide range of pre designed workflows will become available for immediate use. However, in this particular example, we will opt for the custom workflow.

Step 2: Name your Workflow and select Set a Trigger.

There are 3 trigger types in Kompyte, Collect based, Trait based and Paid Ads based

  1. Collect based workflows - series of automated actions triggered by new insights gathered from tracked data sources and available in your collect feed

  2. Trait based workflows -  series of automated actions triggered every time a critical company trait is been updated

  3. Paid Ads - based on company, ad keyword or ad content

“Collect based” workflows 

Start by setting condition Triggers:

  • Company: Specify which company(s) you’d like included in this workflow

  • Title: Insight title generated by Kompyte semantic Ai or user-curated

  • Description: Insight content 

  • Saved Filter: Saved Collect Feed Filter

  • Taxonomy: Category assigned by Kompyte Artificial Intelligence 

  • Tag: Tag assigned by a user or an Automated Workflow

  • Highlighted: Highlight assigned by a user or an Automated Workflow

  • Archived: An insight that has been moved from the active Collect feed to the archived Collect feed

Next, choose an Action to be taken:

If/Then Branch: Continue to build the blocks of your workflow if yes or if no

If Branch: Continue to build the blocks of your workflow if yes

Tag/Untag: Automatically Tag (categorize) or Untag your insight (see Automated Report use case)

Pin/Unpin to a trait: Pin or Unpin this insight to a particular competitor trait (see Review Task Queue use case)

Highlight/Unhighlight: Automatically Highlight (mark as  important) or unhighlight your insight

Archive/Unarchive: Move the insight from the active collect feed to the archived feed or from the archived feed to the active feed

Set Taxonomy: Assign a different source classification

Set Company: Assign a company to the insight

Add Company: Assign another company to the insight (most commonly used for Listening alerts around industry concepts when more than one tracked company is mentioned)

Edit Takeaway: Automate curate an insight summary/key takeaways based on the insight criteria

Create a Task: Create a task for a team member to review and take action on an insight

Send an e-mail: Send an internal communication (see Sales Team Alert use case)

Send a Slack Message: Send an internal communication (be sure to enable the Slack integration to see this option)

Send Microsoft Teams notification: Send an internal communication (be sure to enable the Microsoft Teams integration to see this option)

“Trait based” workflows 

Start by setting Enrollment Triggers:

  • Company: Specify which companies you’d like included in this workflow

  • Updated: Select update timeframe

  • Board: Select a Board. Curated traits used in strategic reports and Battlecards are organized into Boards. These should be customized under the settings section

  • Trait: Traits are strategic elements used in reports and Battlecards

  • Value: Specify a unique keyword or term

Next, choose an action. You will have the same actions available in Collect and Trait-Based Workflows (see above).

“Paid ads based” workflows

  • Content: Specify the keyword(s) present in the Google Ad copy

  • Company: Specify which company you’d like included in this workflow

  • Keyword: Specify the specific keyword the Google Ad is for

How to activate a workflow in Kompyte

Once you’re finished, you can activate the insight by clicking on the Review button in the right-hand corner:

Select whether you want to enroll up to 200 previous insights that meet the workflow criteria or if you want to enroll only new insights moving forward. Then click Turn On.

The workflow will then appear as active in your Automation Dashboard.

Automation Workflow Use Cases

Real-time Alerts / Workflow type: Collect Based

Use this trigger if you want to receive an email every time there is a new pricing update from your tier 1 competitors. Alerts can also be delivered through Slack or Microsoft Teams.

Automated Reports and Digests / Workflow type: Collect Based

Use this trigger to automatically TAG the update with a given tag at the same time. Tagged insights can be added to automated reports. To create an automated report, configure an Insight report for whichever set of tags you wish from the Report hub:

Create a High Priority Insight queue to review / Workflow type: Collect Based

Use this trigger to automatically PIN the update to a competitor trait. Pinned insights can be reviewed later, allowing you to create a high-priority insight review queue for team members separated by a competitor, business vertical, topic, etc.

Alert your Sales Team for important Updates / Workflow type: Trait Based

Use this Workflow to send an automated Alert to a channel, team, or person anytime a Competitor’s pricing is updated by a manager. In this case, the CI Channel will get a Slack alert anytime their direct Competitor’s pricing changes
